The World Heads of State Summit is set to commence today (February 11) in Dubai, bringing together global leaders for discussions on key international issues. The summit will run until February 13, featuring high-level deliberations on economic, political, and strategic collaborations.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who departed Sri Lanka to attend the event, arrived at Dubai International Airport yesterday (February 10) afternoon. He was warmly received by Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, along with other government representatives. The Acting Ambassador to the UAE, Taxila Anolda, Sri Lankan Consul General for Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Alexi Gunasekara, and officials from the Sri Lankan Embassy in Dubai were also present at the reception.
Following his arrival, President Dissanayake met with Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Qassim, CEO of Master Investment Group and nephew of the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah. Their discussion focused on strengthening economic and investment ties between Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates.
Later in the evening, the President attended a dinner at the iconic Museum of the Future in Dubai, a globally recognized venue symbolizing innovation and progress.
As part of his official engagements, President Dissanayake is scheduled to deliver an address at the summit tomorrow (February 12) afternoon, where he is expected to outline Sri Lanka’s economic vision and strategic partnerships on the global stage.
