Australian spinner Matt Kuhneman, who played a pivotal role in Australia’s Test series victory over Sri Lanka in Galle, has been reported for a suspect bowling action following his 16-wicket haul in the series.
According to Code Sports, Kuhneman’s impressive form has raised concerns, and he is now required to undergo a mandatory bowling action analysis test within three weeks. This marks the first time the left-arm spinner has been subjected to such scrutiny since beginning his professional cricket career in 2017.
A Cricket Australia spokesperson confirmed the development, stating, “The Australian team was informed of the referral by match officials following the second Test against Sri Lanka in Galle and will be assisted through the process of rectifying this matter.”
Kuhneman will now work with Cricket Australia’s coaching and support staff as he prepares for official biomechanical testing, which will determine whether his action complies with ICC regulations. The outcome of this assessment could impact his future availability for Australia in international cricket.
