JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva and Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody have met with Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha at the Indian High Commission in Colombo, holding extensive discussions on strengthening India-Sri Lanka relations and energy partnerships.
According to the Indian High Commission’s official X account, the discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in the energy sector, following the Adani Group’s decision to withdraw from its planned investments in Sri Lanka.
Minister Kumara Jayakody’s meeting with the High Commissioner specifically addressed potential energy collaborations, indicating that both parties are exploring alternative investment opportunities to replace the vacuum left by Adani’s exit.
The timing of these meetings suggests that the Sri Lankan government is actively working to maintain strong diplomatic and economic ties with India, despite the setback caused by Adani’s withdrawal. The discussions signal a continued interest in Indian investment, particularly in the renewable energy and power generation sectors.
