Plantations and Community Infrastructure Minister Samantha Vidyarathne has assured that the upcoming budget will bring a substantial salary increase, emphasizing that, unlike previous governments, this increase will be incorporated into the basic salary rather than given as temporary allowances.
Speaking on the budget proposals, Vidyarathne highlighted that, for the first time in Sri Lanka’s history, the salaries of politicians will be reduced, and these funds will be redirected toward public welfare and development initiatives.
The Minister expressed confidence that this budget will set a new standard, proving what a good budget should look like. While previous administrations have failed to provide meaningful wage increases, he claims that this government is delivering real solutions despite economic challenges.
He also acknowledged the economic hardships faced by the public, stating that wages are being increased despite financial difficulties, showing the administration’s commitment to the people’s well-being.
