Deputy Minister Mahinda Jayasinghe stated that unlike previous government budgets, which provided relief while simultaneously imposing taxes, the NPP Budget has not introduced any tax increases.
He further emphasized that borrowing is not a crime when used to cover the budget deficit, suggesting that it is a necessary measure for economic stability.
Addressing concerns about government spending, Jayasinghe pointed out that despite the President undertaking three foreign trips, the only expenses incurred were for air tickets, as the government is actively controlling its expenditures.
The Deputy Minister made these remarks while participating in the Sirasa Battle program.
