Arjun Aloysius, Director of Mendis Company, along with two others who were serving prison sentences for tax evasion amounting to Rs. 3.5 billion, have been released from Welikada Prison today.
Prisons Spokesperson Gamini Dissanayake confirmed their release, marking the completion of their sentence. The three individuals were sentenced to six months in prison by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court in October 2024 following legal proceedings related to massive tax fraud allegations.
Their release has sparked renewed discussions on corporate financial misconduct and accountability, as the case had drawn significant public and political attention.
