President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has announced that a special public exhibition of the Sacred Tooth Relic will be held after the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
The decision was made following discussions with the Chief Prelates of the Malwatte and Asgiri Chapters, which took place today (23). The event is set to be organized with the participation of the Governor of the Central Province, the District Secretary of Kandy, state officials, and the Diyawadana Nilame of the Sacred Tooth Relic Palace.
Earlier in the day, President Dissanayake visited the historic Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy to pay homage and receive blessings.
Following his visit, he proceeded to the Malwatte Maha Viharaya, where he met with Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thero, the Chief Prelate of the Malwatte Chapter. During their brief discussion, the Maha Sangha chanted Seth Pirith and bestowed blessings upon the President.
The President then visited the Asgiri Maha Viharaya, where he called on Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thero, the Chief Prelate of the Asgiri Chapter. Senior monks, including the Anunayake Theros of the Asgiri Chapter, participated in the event, and the Maha Sangha once again performed Seth Pirith to invoke blessings on the President.
This special exhibition of the Sacred Tooth Relic is expected to draw large numbers of devotees and visitors, marking a historic spiritual event for the country.
