Industry Minister Sunil Handunnetti has voiced his opposition to the 15% tax imposed on online service providers, stating that he does not support the policy and believes it should be reviewed immediately.
Speaking on national television, Handunnetti warned that the tax would discourage individuals earning foreign currency online from bringing their earnings into Sri Lanka. He emphasized that such measures could negatively impact the inflow of dollars, which the country cannot afford at this time.
Calling for urgent action, Handunnetti urged the government to reconsider the tax policy to ensure that those contributing to the economy are not unfairly burdened.
