A former Commissioner and a Senior Probation Officer of the Department of Probation and Child Care Services, North Central Province, have been arrested in connection with the abuse of a 17-year-old girl at an Anuradhapura orphanage in 2021.
Following their arrest, the suspects were granted bail by the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court. The case has sparked widespread concern, as both individuals held key positions responsible for the protection and welfare of children in state care. Further investigations are underway.
