
The former government paid Rs. 28 million in compensation for damages caused to the house and shrine of diviner Gnanakka during the 2022 anti-government protests, according to Minister Nalinda Jayatissa, the Chief Organizer of the ruling party.
Speaking in Parliament, Jayatissa revealed that in addition to Rs. 1,221 million paid to MPs and ministers, the previous government also compensated local government politicians with Rs. 1,121 million.
He further stated that 14 Presidential Commissions were appointed under the previous administration, with a total expenditure of Rs. 530.1 million on these commissions.
