Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Anil Jayantha, has assured the public that there is no fuel shortage in the country, dismissing recent concerns as misinformation.
Speaking in Parliament, the Minister stated that the nation currently holds sufficient fuel reserves to meet demand. He further alleged that certain organized groups are attempting to create an artificial crisis by spreading false narratives and triggering unnecessary panic.
His remarks come in response to reports of long queues forming at fuel stations, which he attributed to deliberate efforts to mislead the public and create unwarranted fear. The government, he emphasized, remains committed to ensuring a stable fuel supply and urged citizens not to fall for misinformation.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent any disruption to fuel distribution.
