The Chief Secretariat of the Central Province has issued a directive outlining protocols to be followed during events attended by the Governor of the Central Province.
Referring to a prior communication from the Governor’s Secretary (GCP/07/6/20) and a letter dated February 20, the Chief Secretary, G.H.M.A. Premasinghe, has emphasized specific guidelines that must be observed at such functions.
According to the directive, all official functions and programs attended by the Governor should be conducted without any special reception ceremonies. Additionally, it has been mandated that the National Anthem be played in both Sinhala and Tamil at these events.
One notable requirement states that local herbal drinks, such as Iramusu, Belimal, or Ranawara, must be served at all functions. This aligns with an apparent effort to promote traditional Sri Lankan medicinal beverages over other refreshments.
The Governor has instructed all ministries and institutions to strictly adhere to these protocols for any event or program attended by him. Copies of the directive have been distributed to all relevant government offices and officials in the Central Province, including ministry secretaries, the Public Service Commission, and heads of departments.
