The Lanka Teachers’ Union, led by its President Priyantha Fernando, has launched nationwide protests against the government, accusing it of delaying salary payments and failing to implement the Subodhani report.
Fernando stated that pamphlets are being distributed across the country to raise awareness among teachers and principals, marking the first step toward a large-scale protest. The campaign aims to mobilize educators against what they describe as the government’s broken promises regarding salary adjustments.
He further emphasized that the government has no moral right to continue deceiving teachers and vowed that the protests will intensify until a fair resolution is reached regarding the remaining two-thirds of teachers’ and principals’ salaries.
