A 35-year-old Chinese woman was seriously injured this morning (09) after falling from a moving train on the Uttara Railway line near Idalgashinna railway station.
The accident occurred while she was traveling on a train from Nanu Oya to Badulla. According to reports, she fell headfirst from the train, hitting a section of the train’s 19th carriage before falling onto the tracks.
She sustained severe head and leg injuries and was initially admitted to Haputale Regional Hospital. Due to the severity of her condition, she was later transferred to Diyatalawa Base Hospital and subsequently to Badulla Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
Emergency responders transported her to the hospital via the same train and the 1990 ambulance service. Hospital sources confirm that her condition remains critical.
