India captain Rohit Sharma has equaled the world record for the most consecutive toss losses in One Day International (ODI) cricket.
Rohit lost the toss in the final of the Champions Trophy in Dubai today (9), marking his 12th consecutive ODI toss defeat. With this, he has matched former West Indies captain Brian Lara’s record for the most consecutive toss losses by a captain in ODIs.
This streak is part of a larger trend for India, as the team has now lost the toss 15 times in a row in men’s ODIs. Their last successful toss win came in the semi-final of the 2023 ODI World Cup against New Zealand.
India already holds the record for the team with the most consecutive toss losses, surpassing the Netherlands, who lost 11 tosses in a row between 2011 and 2013.
