
Katunayake, Sri Lanka – A 65-year-old passenger has been arrested at Katunayake Airport for allegedly harassing passengers and attempting to sexually assault female flight attendants on a flight from India to Sri Lanka.
The suspect, who holds dual citizenship in Sri Lanka and Sweden, arrived from Mumbai, India, early this morning. Reports indicate that he was heavily intoxicated during the flight, causing disruption and making inappropriate advances toward two flight attendants.
After the crew restrained the suspect and informed the pilot of the incident, airport security officers were alerted. Upon landing, Katunayake Airport Police took him into custody.
A medical examination confirmed that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
The arrested passenger faces charges of disorderly conduct and attempted sexual assault. He was scheduled to appear in court today.
