Speaker Jagath Wickramasinghe has come under scrutiny following a controversial statement in Parliament in response to a question raised by Opposition MP DV Chanaka.
The MP questioned the government’s directive to education authorities instructing them not to involve politicians in school functions, citing the participation of former Speaker and current MP Ashoka Ranwala in such an event.
In his response, Speaker Wickramasinghe defended Ranwala’s presence, stating that he attended the function as the head of the legislature, not as a political party representative.
However, MP Chanaka challenged this justification, pointing out that Ashoka Ranwala is the former Speaker, not the current head of the legislature, raising further debate on the matter.
School children worshipping this duplicitous charlatan Ashoka Ranwala who pretends to hold qualifications he has never even come sniffing distance near.
This man does not deserve respect, he is a fraud and no role model for school children.
Why is this guy such a blind spot in the ruling NPP?
Don’t they realise that he is not someone to be emulated?
