Deputy Minister of Industries Chathuranga Abeysinghe has stated that the current government is carrying out a massive crackdown on underworld activities without making media announcements.
He emphasized that the government has chosen not to publicize operations, unlike past campaigns such as ‘Justice’, but is actively suppressing the underworld and drug-related activities through large-scale interventions.
According to the Deputy Minister, the government’s aggressive actions have triggered violent clashes among criminal groups, leading to killings within the underworld. He further claimed that these criminal factions are now turning on each other in an attempt to protect their networks amid intensified law enforcement efforts.
He reiterated that the escalation of underworld violence is a direct result of the government’s relentless suppression efforts, which are being carried out without media attention to ensure greater effectiveness.
