The United National Party (UNP) has given the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) until March 20 to confirm whether they will contest jointly for the Colombo Municipal Council in the upcoming local government elections.
This decision was reached during a discussion among senior UNP members, and the party has also instructed other local government institutions to inform them by the deadline if they wish to expand the Samagi Jana Sandha coalition.
Meanwhile, the National Jana Balawegaya has already submitted its deposit for the Colombo Municipal Council elections, indicating its readiness to contest.
