Colombo Chief Magistrate Tanuja Lakmali today issued a warrant against Asha Basnayake, the third witness in the case involving the alleged forcible removal of the crown from Pushpika de Silva, the winner of the 2021 Mrs. World competition held at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre in Colombo.
The case has been filed against former Mrs. World Caroline Jurie and model Chula Padmendra as suspects.
Earlier, the second witness, Chandimal, had testified before the court.
Asha Basnayake had been summoned to testify in a previous court session, and a notice had been issued for her to appear. However, as she failed to attend the hearing, the Magistrate issued a warrant for her arrest.
