Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Harshana Suriyapperuma has claimed that Sri Lanka’s bankruptcy was a result of the opposition’s ideas and influence.
Speaking in Parliament today, the Deputy Minister stated that the government has a clear plan to not only present the budget but also effectively implement it.
“We are focusing primarily on managing the budget’s revenue and expenditure. The budget has been presented to inform the country about how to guide it toward the future and to establish the necessary institutional structure for it. Contrary to what the opposition claims, we are not contributing to the country’s bankruptcy journey,” he said.
The Deputy Minister’s remarks come amidst ongoing political debates over the country’s financial recovery and budget management.
