
The Sri Lankan comedy film Nelum Kulunna (Tentigo) has made history by becoming the first Sri Lankan film to be remade in multiple languages.
Directed by Ilango Ram, the original film has been officially remade in Tamil as Perusu and Telugu as Pedha. Additionally, it has been adapted into Kannada and Malayalam in collaboration with South Indian production house Stone Bench Films.
The original Sinhala version and its Tamil remake are currently showing in theaters.
A Hindi remake is also in development with a well-known North Indian studio, while European adaptations are being planned in Spanish, Italian, French, and Belgian.
Furthermore, the film is set to be remade in the United States by a prominent Korean production company.
Tentigo has already gained international recognition, winning the Special Jury Award at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. It has also represented Sri Lanka at various international film festivals, including:
