India’s Adani Group has firmly rejected rumors suggesting it is altering its renewable energy agreement in Sri Lanka.
In an official statement, Adani Green Energy SL Ltd dismissed claims that the company had offered to revise the electricity price by up to 7 cents per kilowatt-hour, labeling such allegations as entirely false and baseless.
“We remain fully committed to the original terms of the agreement as established with the relevant Sri Lankan authorities. The investment plans and project framework of Adani Green Energy SL Ltd have not changed,” the company stated.
Adani Green Energy SL Ltd also confirmed its decision to respectfully withdraw from the proposed wind power project in Sri Lanka. The group emphasized that it would be willing to reconsider any development opportunities if the Sri Lankan government decides to revisit the project in the future.
Back in February, the Adani Group officially announced its withdrawal from further engagement in the $442 million wind power project. This decision followed unsuccessful negotiations with Sri Lankan authorities who reportedly attempted to modify the original agreement.
The Adani Group’s firm stance aims to clear up any misinformation and reaffirm its commitment to honoring its previous agreements and exploring future opportunities under mutually agreed terms.
