Deputy Minister Mahinda Jayasinghe has expressed confidence that the government can achieve strong victories in upcoming local government elections, crediting their success to stabilizing a previously bankrupt and economically unstable nation within a remarkably short period.
Speaking to the media after submitting nominations for the National People’s Powers for the Gampaha District Local Government Institutions, Jayasinghe emphasized that the government’s policies have restored public confidence and established a fair legal system where laws are applied equally to all citizens.
He further highlighted that the governance process has been effectively managed over the last four months, leading to increasing public trust in the administration’s capabilities.
According to Jayasinghe, despite the criticisms from opposition groups, the general public now collaborates more closely with the government, recognizing its achievements in economic recovery and improved governance.
The Deputy Minister expressed optimism that this positive response from the public would be reflected in the results of the local government elections.
