A Sri Lankan schoolboy was Wednesday fighting for his life after falling from the third floor of his family apartment at Maliagawatte in the commercial capital of Colombo on Wednesday, police said.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the victim had had been consuming drugs with friends when he tried to flee his mother who had made an announced entry into the apartment block, according to police.
Police and emergency services were quick to arrive at the scene and remove the seriously injured teen to the nearby Government owned National Hospital.
The condition of the boy, a student at a leading school in the Metropolis is in a life threatening condition, police quoted hospital officials as saying.
The incident took place in a densely populated apartment block which is notoriously known to be a hub for banned narcotic substances.
Several known drug dealers in the city are also known to operate from this location that has witnessed numerous police raids from time to time.
