Deputy Leader of the Tamil Progressive Alliance, MP Palani Digambaram, stated that estate residents will not be deceived again in the upcoming local government elections.
He made these remarks during a meeting held on the 23rd at a private function hall in Kotagala, organized to brief party candidates contesting the local government election.
Addressing the gathering, MP Palani Digambaram said, “This government came into power by making numerous false promises—claiming they would develop the country, catch thieves, and even presenting a supposed list of thieves in Parliament. However, Palani Digambaram and Radha Krishnan’s names aren’t on that list because we haven’t stolen anything.”
He further criticized National People’s Power (JVP) MPs representing estate areas, who accused his party of failing to bring development and demanded apologies. Digambaram emphasized, “We do not need to apologize because we’ve genuinely developed the plantation regions. It’s the JVP who must apologize to the people for the harm caused, including attacks on factories and plantation officials.”
He confidently concluded, “People will not fall for these tactics again. This time, we will emerge victorious in the local government elections.”
Tamil Progressive Alliance Deputy Leader MP V. Radhakrishnan also attended the event.
