Deputy Minister of Defense, retired Major General Aruna Jayasekara, has stated that the security of the people has been assured, emphasizing that a special program has been implemented to maintain public safety throughout Sri Lanka.
Speaking to the media following a ceremony, Major General Jayasekara highlighted that the program aimed at ensuring public security has been in operation for some time and continues to function effectively.
He further noted that while there have been occasional clashes between underworld gangs, these incidents do not pose a significant threat to national security.
“We have ensured the security of the people. We have implemented a special program in this regard. We have ensured public security throughout Sri Lanka. There is a clash between underworld gangs. But it does not have a major impact on national security. Our Ministry of Public Security is working on it specifically,” he said.
Major General Jayasekara reiterated that the Ministry of Public Security is actively addressing the issue of underworld violence to maintain peace and safety across the nation.
