Deputy Defense Minister Aruna Jayasekara has stated that he is unaware of reports claiming that Britain has imposed sanctions on three former army commanders and other individuals.
Speaking to journalists, Minister Jayasekara mentioned that he would investigate the matter and provide further information once verified.
When asked specifically about sanctions allegedly imposed by Britain on former Army Commander Shavendra Silva, former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda, and former Army Commander Jagath Jayasuriya, the Minister responded:
“I will check and give you some information on that. I heard about it, but I will need to confirm and provide accurate information. This must have been a message that just came in.”
He assured that a formal statement would be made after reviewing the reports concerning the sanctions.
