Chairman of Lanka Petroleum Corporation, D.J. Rajakaruna, has assured employees that their annual bonus will not be withheld, though it will not be distributed this month.
Addressing concerns about the bonus payment, Chairman Rajakaruna acknowledged there was uncertainty about whether the bonus would be provided. However, he emphasized his commitment to ensuring employees receive their bonuses, stating, “I have no desire to stop the bonus. But there are laws and issued circulars that we must follow.”
He explained that the process requires approval from the Treasury and must be submitted to the Cabinet for final clearance. While efforts are being made to complete these formalities, he confirmed that the bonus could not be given within the month.
To compensate for the delay, Chairman Rajakaruna announced an increase of Rs. 50,000 as an annuity, reassuring employees of his intention to fulfill the bonus distribution once the proper procedures are completed.
