
Sri Lankan Ambassador to Ukraine, Hasanthi Urugodawatte Dissanayake, met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and presented her credentials during a meeting held at the Presidential Palace.
The discussion focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and exploring joint efforts to bring peace to Ukraine.
During the conversation, President Zelensky stated that Ukraine is engaged in productive discussions with U.S. representatives and is prepared to do everything possible to achieve peace as soon as possible.
Ukraine has proposed steps to establish a solid foundation for a future negotiation process, and the Ukrainian Presidential Palace expressed expectations of receiving support for this position from other nations.
“We are grateful to Sri Lanka for its active support on the path to a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, based on the UN Charter and international law,” President Zelensky stated.
The President also noted that Ukraine is interested in developing bilateral cooperation, especially in areas such as trade, education, food security, and medical rehabilitation.
The Sri Lankan Ambassador emphasized her hope for peace for the people of Ukraine, according to the official statement.
