The Meteorology Department has issued a warning that the heat index, which measures the temperature felt by the human body, is expected to rise to the ‘Caution level’ in several parts of the country.
According to the advisory, the affected areas include the Northern, North-Central, North-Western, and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as the districts of Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Colombo, and Gampaha.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize the impact of the heat. Recommendations include staying hydrated, taking regular breaks in shaded areas, and limiting strenuous outdoor activities to avoid heat-related illnesses.
