
Kithsiri Rajapaksa, a Colombo Municipal Councillor and son of ‘Maradane Choppe’, was arrested by the police last night (28th) following allegations of intimidation and threats against a homeowner and his daughter over a disputed piece of land located on Kent Road, Dematagoda.
According to reports, Rajapaksa, accompanied by a group of government officials, visited the disputed property where he allegedly threatened the property owner and his daughter. The altercation reportedly stemmed from a land dispute.
Police subsequently arrested Kithsiri Rajapaksa in connection with the incident. However, it is reported that the police are currently under pressure to release him, suggesting possible external influence aimed at securing his release.
Rajapaksa is scheduled to be produced before the Aluthgama Court Complex today (29th) for further proceedings.
