
In an ironic turn of events, a power outage occurred during a meeting attended by Power and Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody, shortly after he pledged to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to the Jaffna region.
The meeting, held in Jaffna, featured a speech by Minister Jayakody in which he confidently stated that his ministry would provide 24-hour electricity to the area. However, moments after concluding his address, the venue was struck by a sudden power cut.
The outage briefly interrupted the proceedings, but power was restored soon after, allowing the meeting to continue. The incident drew attention due to its timing and highlighted ongoing concerns about the reliability of the power supply in the region.
