
Deliveries of BYD electric vehicles have officially commenced in Sri Lanka, led by John Keells CG Auto (Private) Limited, a unit of John Keells Holdings, in collaboration with Nepal’s Chaudhary Group. The initiative includes the establishment of a dedicated charging network located at Keells Supermarkets across several cities.
“These first deliveries mark a culmination of a years-long effort to establish BYD and serve as an important milestone for our nation’s automotive industry and the aspirations for sustainable vehicle ownership for many Sri Lankans,” said John Keells Holdings Chairman Krishan Balendra.
“This launch reflects our commitment to long-term investment in the country’s green mobility landscape and to building a robust foundation for the future of electric transportation in the region,” added Nirvana Chaudhary, Managing Director of CG Corp Global.
John Keells CG Auto General Manager, Charith Panditharatne, noted that the company is leveraging synergies within the John Keells Group to offer a seamless EV ownership experience for customers.

Globally, BYD has emerged as the top-selling electric vehicle brand, further enhancing its appeal in the Sri Lankan market.
