Another earthquake struck Myanmar today (30), close to the region already devastated by a powerful quake earlier this week.
According to foreign media reports, the latest tremor occurred approximately 28 kilometers northwest of Mandalay and registered a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale.
This seismic activity follows a 7.7-magnitude earthquake that rocked the country on the 28th, triggering a series of aftershocks that continue to affect the region.
So far, the confirmed death toll has risen to 1,700, with an estimated 300 more people reported missing. Authorities have warned that the number of casualties may increase as rescue operations continue.
Emergency response teams are on the ground working to locate missing persons and provide relief to those affected by the back-to-back natural disasters.
