In a significant development for Sri Lankan cricket, Shammi Silva has been re-elected as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) for the 2025–2027 term. The election of office bearers was held today (March 31) at the SLC headquarters in Colombo.
This marks the fourth consecutive time that Silva has been elected to lead the country’s top cricketing body, setting a record in the history of Sri Lanka Cricket. His re-election reflects the continued confidence placed in his leadership by the voting members, despite ongoing controversies and challenges faced by the board in recent years.
Under Silva’s previous terms, Sri Lanka Cricket has seen both highs and lows, including improvements in domestic cricket infrastructure, efforts to revive school-level programs, and criticism over governance and team performance inconsistencies. His latest appointment comes at a critical time, as Sri Lanka prepares for key international fixtures and ongoing development initiatives aimed at restoring the national team’s competitiveness on the world stage.
The rest of the executive committee, including key office bearers such as Vice Presidents, Secretary, and Treasurer, were also appointed during the session. The full list of newly elected officials is expected to be published shortly.
Silva’s new term will span until 2027, during which he is expected to focus on governance reforms, youth development programs, and strengthening Sri Lanka’s standing in global cricket.
