Colombo — The Jana Aragala Movement claims that the government has secured parliamentary approval to borrow USD 2.3 billion from international lending institutions.
Speaking at an election rally of the Jana Aragala Alliance, the movement’s Publicity Secretary, Pubudu Jayakody, stated that the loan approval is tied to provisions outlined in the recently passed budget proposal.
Jayakody criticized the move, raising concerns about further debt accumulation and emphasizing the need for transparency in how such funds will be utilized.
The government has not officially commented on the matter.
