Colombo, March 31 — National People’s Power (NPP) MP Devananda Suraweera says the current government, led by the NPP, has already demonstrated its ability to deliver results despite being in office for just a few months.
Speaking at a public rally organized for the upcoming local government elections, MP Suraweera highlighted that although the President has been in office for six months and the government for only four months, their performance has shown that “everything can be done.”
He called for the powers of provincial-level institutions, including those related to death registrations and local administration, to be handed over to the NPP without hesitation, arguing that the party has earned the public’s trust.
“The people now see that the government is on track,” he said. “There is no doubt that the National People’s Power will secure a victory in this election.”
MP Suraweera’s remarks come amid the party’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its grassroots presence ahead of key local government contests.
