Colombo, April 1 — Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organizer Namal Rajapaksa has urged the party’s local government election candidates to focus on promoting the party’s policies rather than engaging in personal attacks or slander against other political parties.
Speaking at a meeting with SLPP local government candidates held at Nelum Mawatha, Rajapaksa emphasized that intelligent voters are more concerned about policies than personal matters. He stated that slander offers no real benefit and called on party members to take the SLPP’s vision directly to the people.
“We must take our party’s policies from village to village and ensure people understand our platform,” he said. “Voters respond to substance, not slander.”
Rajapaksa’s comments come as political campaigns ramp up ahead of the upcoming local government elections, where clear messaging and public engagement are expected to play a crucial role.
