Colombo, Sri Lanka – A police constable formerly attached to the Colombo Crimes Division has been arrested for allegedly engaging in indecent behavior toward a female colleague.
The arrest was made by the Dematagoda Police after reports emerged that the officer had exposed his genitals to a female police constable via WhatsApp.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect had previously been ordered to resign from his position within the police force. Despite this, further action was taken following the complaint and investigation into the incident.
The Sri Lanka Police have not yet issued an official statement on whether disciplinary or criminal proceedings will follow. The matter remains under further inquiry.
This incident adds to growing public concern about professional misconduct and harassment within law enforcement agencies.
