Corruption stained Sri Lanka Cricket president Shammi Silva has been fully exposed as the traitor who called on the International Cricket Council to ban the country from international participation.
Copies of three of the letters he sent to the ICC pleading for the ban on Sri Lanka are in the hands of several Members of Parliament including firebrand Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa.
In one of the letters, Silva has referred to himself and his 14 member clan running Sri Lanka Cricket as ‘private citizens’ who do not come under government control.
“We will take all means necessary as private citizens to restore independence to Sri Lanka Cricket including by making appropriate applications to court,” Silva has conveyed to the head of the ICC Greg Barclay in one of the letters.
But in a clear pleading to ban Sri Lanka, Silva has in the letter dated November 6, 2023 declared that no further proof is needed than what has been stated in his correspondence referring to government interference.
“We know that you will act in the best interest of cricket in Sri Lanka just as you have in the past as you attempt to deal with this development and trust your exertions will cause the Minister (Roshan Ranasinghe) to change course,” Silva stated in the letter.
