The Attorney General’s Department is preparing to file indictments against a group of former cabinet and state ministers from previous governments, according to legal sources.
Among those facing charges is former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, whose indictment is expected to be filed in the coming days.
In addition to Rambukwella, three other former cabinet ministers and five former state ministers are reportedly set to face legal proceedings.
The investigations leading to these indictments are being carried out by both the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
Sources further confirmed that inquiries are also ongoing into the alleged involvement of several former senior state officials.
