Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Anuradhapura today, marking the final leg of his official three-day state visit to Sri Lanka.
Arriving in Anuradhapura by air, Prime Minister Modi was received with a formal military salute. As part of his cultural and spiritual itinerary, he proceeded to the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi alongside President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to pay homage.
Shortly after the visit, the Indian Prime Minister posted a photograph on his official social media account, capturing the moment of reverence at the revered site with the caption: “I am in Anuradhapura with my friend Anura.”
This gesture not only highlighted the symbolic importance of the visit but also reflected the strengthening ties between India and Sri Lanka, particularly under the new leadership in Colombo.
