R.M.W. Lakshman, a candidate contesting for the Boralugoda division of the Kaduwela Municipal Council under the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Party, has reportedly been robbed by two individuals who entered his home claiming to be intelligence officers.
According to police, the incident occurred while Lakshman was at home. The two suspects allegedly accused him of making anti-government posts on social media. Under this pretext, they took two of his mobile phones and demanded to see his identity card.
When Lakshman went to retrieve his ID, the suspects reportedly brandished what appeared to be a pistol and fled with his wallet, which contained Rs. 180,000 in cash. In total, the value of the stolen items, including the phones and cash, amounts to approximately Rs. 265,000.
The suspects have not yet been apprehended, and the police have launched an investigation into the robbery.
