Reflecting the steady progress in Sri Lanka’s post-crisis recovery, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka officially handed over its flagship publication, the Annual Economic Review Report 2024 (AER 2024), to the President and Minister of Finance, Mr. Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
The report was presented today (07) at the Presidential Secretariat by Central Bank Governor Dr. P. Nandalal Weerasinghe.

The AER 2024 comprises four main chapters: Macroeconomic Developments, Financial Systemic Conditions, Policy Review of the Central Bank, and the Macroeconomic Outlook.
According to the review, Sri Lanka’s economy, which had suffered its worst crisis in recent history just two years ago, is now showing strong signs of recovery. The report highlights that the country is rebounding more swiftly than several other debt-ridden economies despite ongoing challenges. Key indicators of recovery include an improvement in economic activity, a partial or full restoration of consumer purchasing power, and a notable reduction in economic uncertainty.
The Central Bank noted that these positive developments reflect both domestic resilience and the effectiveness of key policy interventions.
The presentation ceremony was attended by several senior officials, including Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Secretary to the Treasury K. M. M. Siriwardena, Senior Deputy Governor of the Central Bank K. M. A. N. Daulagala, Assistant Governor Dr. C. Amarasekara, Director of Economic Research Dr. S. Jegajeevan, and Additional Directors Dr. L. R. C. Pathberiya and Dr. V. D. Wickramarachchi.
The Annual Economic Review Report 2024 is expected to serve as a key document in shaping future economic policy and supporting informed decision-making as the country continues its path toward stability and growth.
