A female lawyer has fled the country after receiving death threats from underworld figures and drug traffickers, according to a complaint lodged with the Kadawatha Police.
The threats are believed to be linked to her legal representation of suspects allegedly involved in organized crime and narcotics trafficking.
A formal report on the matter has been submitted to the Aluthkade Court. Lawyers have been appointed to appear on her behalf, and she has informed the authorities that she will be present in court if officially summoned.
A senior officer from the Kadawatha Police confirmed that a complaint regarding the threats has been received and is under investigation.
