(Newhall, Santa Claita) The failure by local authorities to paint the sidewalks in cautionary colours of red and yellow has seen a surge in drivers parking illegally down Railroad Avenue in the Newhall, Santa Clarita area.
One prominent location just opposite a prominent recycling plant down Railroad Avenue has now become a safety hazard, with customers parking illegally, whilst waiting their turn to drive in and drop off their recycling material.
This practice frequently sees drivers from the opposite direction forced to take a left turn into a prominent Motel situated adjoining the recycling plant, as more often than not, they are prevented from making a legal ‘U’ turn in this area.
Signpost found fallen on ground
The perpetrators seen are mostly those customers who are waiting their turn to drive through and drop off their recycling material.
Recently even one of the erected sign posts was found removed and lying on the ground.
It was barely five months ago, in the month of June 2023, that this issue was brought to the attention of a Code Enforcement Officer attached to the City of Santa Clarita.
However, quite sadly till to date no action has been taken.
