In a bold and alarming statement, former Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, has accused the Sri Lankan government of secretly surrendering national sovereignty to India under the guise of diplomatic cooperation—without public disclosure or parliamentary oversight.
Speaking in an interview with an independent online media platform, Jayatilleka claimed that the recent visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Sri Lanka resulted in a series of undisclosed agreements that fundamentally compromise the country’s independence, security, and geopolitical neutrality.
Despite the significance of such an international engagement, Jayatilleka points out that the Sri Lankan government led by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has made no official statement detailing the outcomes of the bilateral talks. “There is no press briefing, no Cabinet note, no public record. This is not how a sovereign, democratic state conducts foreign relations,” he said.
The former diplomat further alleged that Sri Lanka has been secretly absorbed into the Indian-led ‘Akhand Bharat’ project—a controversial ideological vision of a unified greater India. He warns that Sri Lanka’s inclusion in unofficial maps and long-term strategic plans could have profound implications for the island’s territorial integrity and non-aligned foreign policy.
Most concerning, according to Jayatilleka, are reports that Sri Lanka has agreed to host Indian military infrastructure, including heavy weapons manufacturing plants, arms storage facilities, and foreign personnel on Sri Lankan soil. If confirmed, such developments would represent an unprecedented military footprint of a foreign power within the country.
“These are not just trade or development agreements,” he emphasized. “We are talking about foreign military presence, which was once considered unthinkable in post-independence Sri Lanka. This is not cooperation—it is capitulation.”
Jayatilleka accused the current administration of betraying the nation in silence, warning that the absence of transparency indicates not just a political misstep, but a deliberate strategy to avoid public backlash.
While the government remains tight-lipped on the content of these alleged agreements, growing speculation and concerns from security analysts, opposition figures, and civil society groups have begun to surface. Many are now calling for urgent clarification, demanding that the government publish the details of any agreements reached with India during the Prime Minister’s visit.
As of now, no official documents have been made public. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also not responded to multiple inquiries from the media.
In the absence of clarity, what remains is a potent and unsettling question: Has Sri Lanka’s sovereignty been traded in secret—and at what cost? The people, Jayatilleka insists, deserve to know.
This man is seriously stupid and a serial sensationalist. For a exposé on the warped reality of this person himself try this:
