Uditha Egalahewa a lawyer representing Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe told court that Sri Lanka Cricket president Shammi Silva had misled the judiciary by withholding facts and figures along with his Petition challenging the setting up of an Interim Committee to run the affairs of cricket.
Egalahewa made the remarks in court on Wednesday as the Minister’s Petition countering Shammi Silva was taken up for hearing and put off for Thursday.
“Shammi Silva has acted on his own and filed a Petition against the Minister without consulting his Executive Committee and his Petition is unlawful and should be rejected.
“Sri Lanka Cricket is a national body that also represents Sri Lanka and the Minister has all the powers vested in him to install an Interim Committe to run the administration of cricket until an election of office bearers can be held,” Egalahewa told court.
The verdict has been set aside for Thursday.
