Cornered Sri Lanka Cricket president Shammi Silva has been unmasked on yet another occasion, this time by ace leg spin bowler Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva.
Hasaranga revealed he was forced to sit out the 2023 World Cup which concluded last Sunday as he underwent surgery to a muscle tear.
But Shammi Silva addressing a Press conference said Hasaranga was not selected for the World Cup as part of a plot by Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe to sabotage Sri Lanka’s chances in the global showpiece.
“I pulled out of the World Cup on expert medical advice,” said Hasaranga.
“After the LPL I trained and tried to get back in time for the World Cup, but unfortunately I tore a muscle on my leg two weeks before the World Cup. I was told by doctors treating me that surgery or no surgery I will have to stay away from playing for 12 weeks and the World Cup is out for me,” said Hasaranga.
He eventually underwent surgery.
With the latest revelation, SLC president Shammi Silva has lost nearly all his hiding places according to analysts.
